Well, we survived! Tristansuperbaby came to stay the weekend just gone and it was an experience. I have to say that I HATE the capsules that babies have to be stuffed into for vehicle travel these days. I have yet to see one that allows the baby to lie flat when sleeping or stretch when it wants to. When I had babies, I could put a harness on them and then "d-clip" the harness to the bottom of the carrycot part of the pram. I then seat-belted the carrycot into the car. They slept flat, travelled flat and were perfectly safe.
Anyway, he came, he stayed, and I love him more and more every day. He's so cute and smiley and he blew his great Granny's mind by wriggling in a 45 degree arc on his tummy at her place on Sunday - our superbaby is only 5 weeks old! The pic is Tristan superbaby with his Dad, just before getting on the train with me.
He did have a bit of an issue with wind, so I made up the same herbal recipe that my plunket nurse gave me 25 years ago:
1 tspn caraway seed
1 tspn sugar
1 cup cold water.
Combine all the ingredients in a pot and bring to the boil. Simmer for 5 mins then strain and chill. Administer up to 5 mls before each feed. For severe cases, use between sides for breastfed babies and approx half way through a formula feed.
It works, without upsetting baby's tummy and Tristan stopped spitting up any excess.
